Which ventilation is suitable for my vehicle?

Need help choosing the right roof fan? Here you'll find answers and explanations.

Selection guide for roof fans and air extraction units for vehicles:

* Why a roof fan or air extraction unit?

A roof fan for vehicles is used to maintain good air circulation in the vehicle. When transporting gas bottles and animals, it is advisable to have good air circulation in the vehicle. A roof fan is also the ideal solution to extend the lifespan of tools or prevent damp cargo areas.

Some examples include:

- animal transport
- campers
- van equipment
- engine rooms
- passenger transport

* Text and explanation of different types of roof fans:

Roof fans can be divided into three groups: electric roof fans, wind-driven roof fans, and air extraction units.

- Electric roof fans are usually used when a large volume of air needs to be moved, when airflow is also desired, or when the vehicle is stationary. Keep in mind that electric roof fans with high airflow also produce more noise. If the airflow doesn't need to be consistently strong, noise can be reduced by using speed control. Some models can also draw in air.

- Wind-driven roof fans and air extraction units only function when the vehicle is moving. This category is considerably easier to install and less expensive to purchase. However, when the vehicle is stationary, their function is virtually nonexistent.

All types of roof fans only function if there is sufficient air supply.
This can be achieved by installing a floor ventilation, floor vent, or side aerator.

* Text and explanation 12V or 24V:
This choice depends on the on-board voltage of your vehicle.

* Placement of the roof fan:
When selecting and placing the roof fan, consider the profile of the roof and the interior trusses of the vehicle.
Adapters are available for some vehicles and roof fans, which significantly simplify installation. These adapters are always designed for mounting on the center of the roof in the long direction.

* Interior finish:

The interior finish is usually done with a grille, which may or may not be lockable.
Various adapters or foam fillers are available to fill the gap between the steel roof and the headliner.
Depending on how the roof fan or air extraction unit is mounted, these adapters are necessary for proper installation.
